Ionview is the greenery neighbourhood in the district of Scarborough in Toronto, Canada. In the west, it is covered by Birchmount Road, Ranstone Gardens and the hydro transmission corridor located to the north, in the east CNR railway and Eglinton Avenue are located, Kennedy Road to the south. Ionview is covering the area from the Ranstone Gardens street, where the beautiful Ionview Park is located. Ionview is included within the provincial and federal riding of Scarborough Southwest. Lorenzo Berardinetti is represented in the Ontario Legislature and in the Parliament of Canada is represented by Dan Harris.

Ionview is one of the smallest neighbourhood comprising of plazas and apartment buildings on Scarborough’s Eglinton Avenue and Kennedy Road East and in the behind located suburban crescent streets. As a part of Scarborough, a lot of condos, commercial properties and lofts are available in the Ionview area. Ionview have more apartments buildings of five or higher storied (2,790 in 2011) than semi-detached (370) houses and single-detached (1,040) house.

Ionview is best known for high number of renters, school’s grad, and manufacturing workers. The neighbourhood is diversified with high number of Indian, Bengali, Greek and Creoles. Homes in this area have most common style and maximum homes have 3 bedrooms.

Residents of townhouses, high-rises and single-family houses enjoy frequenting the area’s many celebrated ethnic eateries, including Chinese, Filipino, and Persian fare.

History

Most portions of the modern Ionview area were comprising with the former village of Wexford, and it was founded in the 1840s, and in 1873 Scarborough Junction was established. The Ionview area remained like rural area until the postwar housing boom at this area in the 1940s and 1950s. The Ionview area is a predominantly place for working-class neighbourhood.

Shopping and Restaurant

Ionview area is consisting of many small and medium size grocery shop and restaurants. Stonemill Bakehouse Ltd, Red Rose Canada Inc, and Galaxy desserts are the main attraction for this area residents. Spicy Dragon Restaurant, Subway, Harvey’s, Pizza Nova, and Winner Bar are famous place for restaurants and bars.

Entertainment and Recreation

Eglinton Ravine Park is the greenery space of Ionview area that offers amazing natural view to this area residents. Other public green spaces including Ionview Park located in center of this area, and Jack Goodlad Community Park is staying at the north.

The Don Montgomery Community Recreation Centre is also close to the Ionview residents, which stay across the Eglinton Avenue. Fore! Yoga, Toronto Magician Raj, and CB therapy solution are good place for fitness care residents.

Getting Around

Ionview is famous for the number of public transport users, so far getting around this location is so easy. A set of Canadian National Railway tracks and Birchmount Road east of Kennedy that transfer commuters from a GO Rail station.

The Ionview is well-connected with the rest of the city by the public transport system, it is served by the 43 Kennedy bus routes, TTC’s 17 Birchmount, and 34 Eglinton East.
